Lamborghini has unveiled its new-for-2026 GT3 car, the Temerario, which will debut around the world starting at Sebring next year.

The car will replace the Huracan, which has been racing since 2015 and recently took it's biggest win in that decade, victory at Spa 24 Hours last month. It was Lamborghini's first ever 24 hour race victory.

Lamborghini’s Spa 24H win is Huracan’s glorious swansong
After almost a decade in racing, the Lamborghini Huracán GT3 hadn’t achieved a milestone 24 hour race win. Until this year’s Spa 24 Hours.

The new car will be powered by a 4-litre V8 twin-turbo engine, derived from the Temerario road car. Lamborghini has re-engineered this to feature forced induction, and has also re-designed the turbochargers to comply with the GT3 regulations.

The hybrid components and capability of the road car have also been removed, as GT3 regulations do not include hybrids at present. The car will produce 550 horsepower, compared to the road car producing 800hp.

The bodywork on the car has also been engineered for quick disassembly or re-assembly in race scenarios, in order to reduce the time spent in the pitlane.

The Temerario is also longer than the Huracan, with wider track front and rear. The aim of this change is to improve the car's stability while cornering. As GT3s are, essentially, cars made for amateur drivers and not professionals, stability, balance, and driveability are of utmost importance.

'The Temerario GT3 has been designed with the end user in mind,' said Rouven Mohr, Lamborghini's chief technical officer.

'Everything has been considered, from the efficiency of the aerodynamics to the power curve to the way in which the team is able to operate the car.

'The car operates in a slightly different area of the performance windows, that are used to balance the cars of different configuration, compared to its predecessor.

'We are confident that it will be competitive in terms of lap time, while also rewarding to drive in a wide range of conditions, including at night and in the rain.

'The development team has worked hard to ensure the car has a wide operating window, and that the teams are better able to work on it.'

The Temerario is the first car to be designed entirely in Lamborghini's new Sant'Agata factory near Bologna, Italy. The car was designed with motorsport from the outset, which, Lamborghini says, has allowed for "strategic integration of race-oriented engineering from the earliest design stages."

The Lamborghini Temerario GT3 will debut at IMSA Sportscar Championship's Sebring 12 Hours in March. The Italian manufacturer is also committed to supporting customers who will continue to race the Huracan GT3 EVO2.
