Lamborghini's Huracán GT3 is getting on a bit now, but no matter: a brand new car, the Temerario GT3, is coming next year. And the Italian manufacturer has just shared a new teaser to whet your appetite.

The new car is planned to be introduced next year to race series across the world, with its predecessor retiring from the global stage.

The Huracán GT3 has had a long shelf life, with the original version being introduced a decade ago in 2015. It's gone through two evo updates since then, with upgrades to the engine, cooling intake system, and aerodynamic package designed to keep the Huracán relevant in the GT3 world for a decade.

Temerario to take centre stage

The road car variant of the Temerario was unveiled last year. It features a mid-engine twin-turbo V8, rather than the Huracán's V10, along with electric motors.

Of course, the electric motors won't feature in the GT3 version.

The Huracán is beginning to show its age, with a less aggressive aero package compared to some of its more modern competition. GT3 is increasingly heading in an aero-focused direction, and the Temerario will likely bring Lamborghini up to standard with their rivals.

Could we see Lamborghini back in WEC?

Honestly: we don't know.

Lamborghini and their former factory partner team, Iron Lynx, had a big falling out last year. Prema, Iron Lynx's parent company, is now suing Lamborghini, accusing the Italian manufacturer of stealing confidential information relating to steering wheel software.

So, if we do see Lamborghini back in the FIA World Endurance Championship's LMGT3 class and therefore at Le Mans, it won't be with Iron Lynx.

But the Italian manufacturer is sure to want to race its brand new GT3 car in the world championship, quickly becoming the global stage GT racing. We'll also likely see it in GT World Challenge Europe, and at the Spa 24 Hours, the biggest GT3 race in the world.

At this year's 24 hour race at Spa, there'll be six competing Lamborghini Huracan GT3s in the 75-car strong grid. That comprises two pro cars, from GRT Grasser Racing Team, two in the silver class, one from GRT Grasser Racing Team and another from VSR, one in the bronze class from Barwell Motorsport, and one in gold from Paul Motorsport.

We asked Lamborghini at Spa if there was any further info, but they were keeping their cards tightly held to their chest.
