Lamborghini secure Rutronik Racing for 2026 onwards

Rutronik Racing and Lamborghini have announced a multi-year collaboration that will see the German team spearhead the new Temerario GT3's assault in SRO competition.

The move brings to an end a successful five-year partnership with Porsche, which saw Rutronik claim multiple championships and race wins in GT World Challenge Europe competition, most notably the Overall Endurance Cup triumph in 2025.

The Klaus Graf-led operation are set to field a single-car entry in the PRO division of the European series next year, and whilst drivers have not been confirmed it is "already certain that it will be a pure Lamborghini factory driver line-up," according to Friday's release.

Lamborghini scored their maiden 24 Hours of Spa victory this year with GRT Grasser Racing Team, ironically beating the #96 Rutronik Racing Porsche to the overall triumph.

The move does raise questions about who else will be fielding the Temerario in 2026, with Lamborghini admitting a limited roll-out due to production priorities – with suggestion that a major existing team could be departing the Italian manufacturer.

“The 2026 season marks the racing debut of the Temerario GT3 in a prestigious championship such as the GT World Challenge Europe," said Rouven Mohr, Lamborghini's Chief Technical Officer.

"It is a series in which successive generations of the Huracán have been title contenders since 2015, and where Lamborghini has secured numerous titles across all categories, culminating in the recent victory at the 24 Hours of Spa.

"For these reasons, we will even strengthen our competitiveness with a highly experienced and professional team such as Rutronik Racing. I am confident that together we will achieve new successes and tackle every challenge with determination.”

The GT World Challenge Europe season begins on the 11-12 April with a six-hour Endurance Cup event at Circuit Paul Ricard.
